Mat is never happier than when making sausages, training dogs and fly fishing, ideally all at the same time
Mat Holloway

After completing a PhD in Aquatic Entomology at Cardiff University and an MSc in Applied Entomology at Imperial College, Mat spent several years working in Africa on tsetse fly and sleeping sickness control projects. After a spell in West Africa working on locust control, he worked as a househusband caring for his two children, during which time he qualified as a licensed fly fishing instructor and worked part time in fishery management.

Mat has worked with adults and children both in the UK and abroad; in Zimbabwe. He organised and taught a workshop in everyday mathematics, and has taught entomology and statistics to students in the UK. In recent years he has worked with young adults with special needs, using outdoor activities to encourage team work and co-operation. Clients have included the Urdd, Communities First and Menter Caerdydd, and groups from Special Schools in Cardiff and the Vale. He has also worked with groups of young people as part of his contribution to the Cardiff and the Vale Peace Festival, and has visited schools to talk to young people about his work with Guide Dogs for the Blind.

With all his experience Mat is invaluable as one of Cazbah's facilitators. He is also Company Secretary of Machine Productions, an independent Cardiff-based production company specialising in adult and children's television drama.
